I showed off the sewing machine feet to MANY people at the show and stumped quite a few so-called “experts” (also known as sewing machine salespeople). Then it dawned on me…”I bet the only ones to truly know what they were would be the members of the American Sewing Guild!” And yes…of course they did! Immediately, in fact! :) They were awesome. In fact I joined the ASG right then and there! Caught up in the moment, I suppose. But a couple of ladies from the Seattle Chapter were there and they were SO nice! I sort of don’t remember what-all is included with membership, but I’m supposed to get some sort of membership package in the mail sometime soon, so maybe I’ll clue you in on it when I get it.

Anyway. Here’s what they are: Attachments for a Singer “Featherweight” machine! In fact, all of the attachments are described on a website that is all about these powerhouses of sewing fabulousness…(great. now I want one! feh. ;)

The one that opens up like a bird’s beak is an adjustable hemmer! SO awesome. I can’t wait to try this out on some new pants!

The one that is long with numbers on it is a tuck marker! It’s no wonder no one knew what this one is for…when was the last time YOU needed to make “tucks” in a garment??? haha!

Phew! Mystery solved.

Oh Yay! I finally conquered my fear of zippers!!! November 12, 2007

Well, I wasn’t afraid of zippers, per se — I was more afraid of learning how to put zippers into things! After buying a TON of zippers online (they are still on sale on mynotions.com starting at $.15 for 5″ or 6″ lengths in all sorts of colors! Go now to stock up!) I was determined to give it a go! To my surprise, it really wasn’t too bad! I did have a bit of a learning curve, but after a few tries, here’s what I ended up with:

yay! my zippered pouches are so cute!

How cute are they! Yay Zippers!  I love learning new things…so much fun!

EtsyRain is getting together this weekend to put together some EtsyRain  “Sampler” style gift bags full of various $10 items to list at half-price in some of our shops to promote EtsyRain — I think I’m going to include these in the mix!

They’ll probably go into the swag bags for Urban Craft Uprising too! If you want a swag bag, you’d better make sure to get there REALLY early! I’ve heard there are only going to be 200 of them available! I could be wrong…but it would be so cool to get one, right?? Yep. Show up early…the line goes around the block by show opening. (or so I’ve been told)

Speaking of craft shows, they are pretty much the reason I haven’t been posting lately. My plan is to post a “holiday show recap” at the end of the season to offer my thoughts on the different shows and venues I was able to see and participate in this show season. I’m looking forward to writing that one :)

Okay. Back to sewing zippers! Yay Zippers!

I am loving my (New) Tote2Go! designs… October 10, 2007

So, I did end up sewing some of the cute fabric stash the other day…I made this super-cute Tote2Go! with some of the “Waverly” brand remnant fabric…called, appropriately, “Blue Green Rain”:

I totally heart the new handle configuration! I used to make them like a standard plastic grocery bag…but with this higher end fabric, making them more “purse-like” looks waaay better. I even figured out how to use interfacing (finally) so the bottom of this one is nice and sturdy but still flexible enough to fold up into its own pocket! Nice. I’m looking forward to making more of these…Yay! New stuff! :D
